Instead of using the canopy that came with the tank I built a new one Friday. Stained it and just got done polyurethaning everything (stand, doors, and canopy). Couldn't sleep. Too bad I can't use power tools this early. Pics to come maybe before or after the in-laws for Easter. Most likely after, going to church first. Haven't wired up the lights yet. Going to use as many T12 vhos in the hood as I can since Brent was kind enough to throw in a ballast, stand offs, and end caps. Had to order a couple new end caps, stand offs and bulbs as a couple broke getting them off the old canopy. Ordered them from everything4saltwater...came in packaged very well. The canopy is going to be hinged with the front attatched to the top. Ballasts are going to be mounted on top with a nice wood cover to conceal them. Not sure if I'm going to drill holes in the canopy for the wiring or go through the back. Thanks to Joe I ordered 1/2" and 1/4" acrylic rods for aquascaping. I might end up using a closed loop as well. A friend of mine is giving me a via aqua pump rated @ 1300 gph. Are these pumps any good and is that too much for a closed loop? He has a 75g that he tried to use it on but he said there was too much flow.

Too much flow? I've never heard such a thing!
Seriously though, I guess it depends on what you're trying to keep. I have two 1200 gph closed loops on my 75 gal mostly sps tank (in addition to the Mag 9.5 return). If at all possible, go with an external pump--it will be alot cooler.

Poly is still wet. Have to wait for it to dry to handle.

Still waiting for the 2 set of end caps and 36" bulbs before I can bring it in the house. We also have to paint and get the moulding. I went with 2 36" because I noticed the pieces of wood that hold the canopy off the tank are in the way of 48".

The tank trim is different from the stain (as you can see in pic 2). Any suggestions on what to do? I was thinking black but not sure what paint to use so it doesn't look runny or gaudy.
