Mothers Reef in Kalamazoo

I took a trip to the Kalamazoo area Sunday looking for MV Pets & Mothers Reef.
I found where MV Pets used to be. The sign is still up, but no store.

I jumped back on 131 & headed up to Mothers Reef. It seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere, but I found it.
Mothers Reef is not a huge shop, maybe about like Exotics & Aquatics. The owners helped to me, & were very friendly, knowledgeable, & helpful.
I thought they had a nice selection of corals that I don't see at other shops. They had a nice selection of Zoas, but I didn't see any named Zoas.
They also had a nice selection of SPS frags, & some of the more rare stuff like Aussie Duncans. They had a decent selection of clams. I saw 7 or 8 T. Crocea, 2 T. Derasa, & a good sized T. Gigas.
I bought a 3" Crocea for $32.

& they threw in this Zoa frag for free, just for being a first time buyer!

If you happen to be in the Kalamazoo area I highly reccomend checking them out.

How about Bittersweet in the morning, and coral hunting in the afternoon

It's really not that far. It's about an hour one way from Bristol. I have driven further for a coral fix. Now that I know MV Pets is still open, I want to check that one out too.

I wonder if I can get us some kind of NIMAS group discount. They told me they actually started out as a local reef club trading frags.

The clam appears a bit bluer in the picture. It's actually slightly more purple.
They did have some larger croceas that were REALLY iridescent blue.

Thanks for the tip on Mothers Reef as I went up there today to check it out. I will definately be going back. I also stopped by MVPets and I thought the old store carried more corals and saltwater fish, so I was a little dissapointed. It is only about 4 or 5 blocks north of the old store so it's not hard to find.

Chris from Mothers Reef,
Thank you for the words of encouragement. We would be happy to offer your club a discount. Just bring in this thread or if your club has a membership card and recieve 10% off any livestock at anytime. Also, if you have a banner, sign, etc. or upcoming events come hang them up in the store. Same goes with buisness cards etc.
We also offer group discounts if anyone is looking to buy or special order anything. We offer box lots for liverock, bali acros, shrooms, and mixed boxes, either in stock or we will have them sent directly from the farms/ wholesalers we use.
Again thank you for your support and let us know of any upcoming events,
Chris
