Moon Lights or No Moon lights

I am diying a canopy for my 55 since one of my ballasts went out in my fixture. I was thinking of hooking up moon lights. Is there an advantage to putting moon lights in? I am going to use the blue L.E.D.s.

I don't think there is any advantage for the fish or the corals...but it sure does look cool. I say do it, but not for any benefit, only if you want that cool bluish night light.

FOr aesthetics only at night... nothing really benefits to my knowledge unless you vary intensity or position to simulate moon cycles, etc.

Check the archives here on TRT,,,there are a lot of discussions pertaining to moonlights.
I happened to be privvy to be around one of two makers of actual correct moonlites, back when they were just starting up ,,,,i can tell you , that there is a difference between legit moonlites and just ol blue LEDS,,
(actually what i was told the blue means nothing , they had to add something to them , so us hobbyists could see something from the LEDS)
Yes it gives a whole new way to view our tanks,,,but i am a believer in proper moonlites as something positive for the livestock in a tank.I've seen test pics of a whole bunch of different moonlites, good and bad,,and when you see a tank with the proper moonlite on it, you can really see the difference.

Yeah, I agree with all that. I just have some for "cool factor" and I only turn them on once in a blue moon.

Not a great website,(for our interests) but this is one of the leaders in true moonlite applications.

I really enjoy my moonlights and have them set on a timer. So easy to install, worth it.

I have two white led moonlights on my 55 and i personally love them. i have seen the blue ones in person and prefer the white over the blue. at first i wanted the blue until i saw them in person. also if you think about it the moon is white not blue so i wanted to keep it as real as possible. just my thoughts..
