Micro bubbles

so anyone know a good way to cut down on micro bubbles? I made sure i had no leaks in the return line and currently dont have the skimmer running (because i used some epoxy to glue some rocks together and that made it go crazy). But the bubbles are everywhere any ideas?

matt,
I'm assuming that you got the return pump going. You need to make sure that the primer cap on the inlet side of the pump is on good and tight. Water tight doesn't mean air tight... this includes at the joints that got glued. I had to add a little glue on one of my joints - didn't cause micro bubbles afterwards....

Any baffles in the sump. I never use less than 3 between the drain from the display and the return pump. first one high 2nd one low and 3rd high.

it's one of the pitfalls for plumbing the pump that way - over the top of a tank wall like you did... the cavitation thing I brought up in the other thread is a something you need to be carefull of as well...

well I redid the the return plumbing on my tank and it cut down on the bubble again, but i still have a tiny amount in there I think they are coming from when the drains enter the sump, filter socks should fix this right? Or is there a better alternative?

A filter sock or baffles. It might help to have the drain run into a small container or something so that the water has to go up and overflow it in order to get into the sump--making the bubbles rise up and (hopefully) pop at the surface.

I have 3 baffles in the sump right now. I also noticed that when the skimmer is off they the problem gets even better but is still not eliminated.

I don't know all the details of what has gone on here but I personally would like to give this guy the benefit of the doubt that maybe something came up or something. Jonnyringo has been an active member of this forum for longer than I have so I am going to wait to hear him defend himself before I condem anyone. JMHO
