Hydor koralia vs Modded MJ?
Ok I'm looking for some more flow for my 75. I'm thinking about either 2 modded MJ's or 2 Koralia 2's. I know I'll get more flow from the MJ's but I really like the Koralias. The Mods cost about 20 for the PH and 25 for the mod kit + shipping and I have found the Koralias as low as 35 ea. Does anyone have any of these? what are your opinions? These are always going to be on (no wave making)although I do gave a coralife powerstrip that will alternate every 15mins..

I just got the Koralias and love the flow. but... always love new stuff though... so I would get another opinion. I have mine on a wave maker... and they seem to handle it fine.

I have 4 of the Korallia 4's on my 125. I really like them.
I think the Mods are going to be too powerful for your tank...they really push water. Also...you don't have the flexibililty of placement with the mods. The Korallia's are just so easy to use and move and place. I vote for the Korallia's.

Koralia's
I would go with the Koralia's. I have had them for about 2 months and have nothing but good to say about them. They have a very wide flow and my corals seem to love it! I have 3 #4's in my 135. They have performed very well for me. I am waiting for Hydor's wavemaker for them, it is supposed to be out later this year.

Anyone know if you can use the Hydors on a wave maker?
I have a MJ mod and love it but I can't use it on the Red Sea wave maker.
Thanks,
Brett

The only wavemaker you can use with the Koralia's is the Seio. It just reduces the speed, doesnt shut it off. No on/off wavemakers are compatible with these pumps. Hydor even states it voids the warranty. I am fairly certain that Hydor is releasing a wavemaker later this year.

I added a Koralia 2 to my 90 gallon tank about a month ago. I definitely like it. I was afraid of going to high so I chose a 2. I will go with the 3 or 4 for my next one. If you do not have one already check out someone that has them locally. You could check the flow on my tank if your not sure.

i love my Koralias. they have a much more dispersed water flow than the MJ mods. i have a MJ mod in my frag tank, and it does the job, but IMHO, Koralias are where its at.

I have 2 Korallia 4's on my 75.....if anything they are a little too much flow with a dsb as they blow the sand around quite a bit. They shouldn't go on a wavemaker as the opening is bigger than most phs and a fish such as a blenny can easily get into the powerhead when off and once started can instantly create fish soup....not a nice thought....

I have a ssb with a "corase" sand, almost crushed coral. A few months back I went bb because of the sand storms then decided I like the substrate better, so I went back to a sand bed. Considering the Koralias because of the "indirect" streams. Perhaps I should consider the 3's instead of the 2's. I had powerheads in the tank I just like the look of the Koralias so much better. Does anyone know if anyone sells them around here?

Dunno about locally Chris. Gonna check around n see tho, since i'm starting to get interested in one or two myself.
Premium is out of stock on them ,as of today. Drs. Foster n Smith had them of their website too, but no indication of availabilty (the price was a lil more than Premium FWIW)
I got a 75 reef also, and have a big ol Rio in one corner, and two Mj's on the back glass w/ a wavemaker strip. Was thinking about getting rid of the
Rio, and trying a Koralia. Dunno which size tho,it looks like the GPH are more than the Rio(think it's a 1700 or larger)Duh, did not see a "1700" Rio when i was looking online, but it's a big un anyway.
What i hear is the 3 is better overall than the 2, but i'd rather see one in action, or hear from someone that has a 75 like us (Gotta 200g Oceanic sitting in the garage for when ever i get to geting on the basement fishroom )
The way i'm thinking is having two of them , one at each end, and use the right wavemaker for them. Can't use the conventional wave timer deals, since the Koralia's don't like being turned off/ on .(and voids the warranty i hear too) There's a wavemaker out there that slows them down, and alternates back /forth.

I think Koralias are too big. Check out the Tunze 6045s, or the MJ mods like you said. I think 1 modded mj1200 and an unmodded mj1200 would be enough for your tank, considering its not BB. I have two of the t unze 6045s, and a modded mj1200 on the floor of my BB tank, and theyre great. But thats BB.....
