You'll love it here, by far the best, most helpful place on the web!

First - welcome!

I just goto RC to visit a few specific threads by specific people. RC has gotten to be less helpful to the newcomer IMO and there just isn't the expert help that there used to be. There is a lot of not so open-mindedness in the response to posts which ticks me off too. For example getting one someone's back for keeping a tang in a 75g or saying they can't have corals unless under MH. C'mon now.
There's a lot of people giving bad - or incomplete advice - because it's what they're doing or have bought. Another example - do a search on Mag pumps and you'll find tons of people bashing them on RC - pushing Eheim. Well, FME, Mags are a great bang for the buck and haven't given me the problems (aside from a little heat) that people post about. I got two Eheims from all the recommendations - and frankly - haven't been impressed with them - I guess because of the higher expecations from everyone recommending them.

That's enough ranting, TRT is a positive place in my browsing so so. Plus you found a local group that has a presence here and can be a better resource than someone out in Florida where they do not know the LFS or even weather we have.

RC is awsome, much better.

OK, I'm just kidding. RC has outgrown itself and the site runs pretty slow. You can't search for anything unless you're a paying member. There are a LOT of members on it though. This site runs much faster and as long as you don't break any rules you'll be happier here. My $.02

The IN section is real slow on RC as well. For a while there no one posted anything for a long time. Here if you post something it usually gets answered within an hour at the least. Sometimes 5 min. I used to go on there a lot but now just check to see what people have for sale. Welcome to TRT hope you see for yourself how much more helpful people are here than on RC.
