Can I join ?:)

Hey good people.. I found You on line and decided to join if that is possible.. I am not one of You who got some huge reef tank, but I own a 24G Aquapod for over a 2 years now with pretty nice success. I started one day in 2006 when I bought this tank from Jeff's store while it was located in South Bend at that time (not Niles).. I have to say he was not really good to walk me through it and I lost of course money on this hobby... With Jeff it is anyway a long story.. Right now I am getting ready to go BIGGER.. I am waiting for a 39G CAD Aquarium.. it is a still nano but thats what I want.. I do not mind doing weekly water changes.. I found it as my hobby and fun to do things around my tank.. it keeps me busy.. and I learn more as well. I am on board of www.nano-reef.com great website for people like me with a small tanks.. However I never met there someone from South Bend area and decided I will join U here since there are quite a few people from northern Indiana.. and might be nice to exchange some experience ( most likely learn from YOU guys and girls ) ... I visit quite often The Ark store in Merrileville and also stores in Chicago area.. my favorite are Ocean Design Aquarium on Irving Park and Living Sea Aquarium in Park Ridge..

Anyway I am glad there are people from this area.. I used to go to Midwest Coral a lot but was kinda turned off by them when they heard that all I want / have is an nano cube.. oh well.. I took my hobby serious and I like to have it as well enjoy it and it doesn't have to be always about the SIZE, if You can keep on water changes.. I just got my Typhone III RO/DI unit this week (before I was buying RO water from Martins) and besides refractometer ( got it 2 yrs ago) this was one of the best purchases..

By the way I was going ask if someone would be interested into 2 Sand Sifting Starfish? why 2? well I have 2 24G Aquapods, one is mine.. other is my room mates but I take care of it.. I bought them about month ago.. and I know they can run out of food with time.. as well they need a deep sand bed and are not good for nano tanks (learned that with time, should have before I decided for them).. Just to not let them starve I would like to find them a new home.. thinking to call The Ark and ask if they would like to take them back for a store credit maybe or some small exchange.. I do not want money.. exchange for some small frag or something.. one more thing I have is a Brittle Sea Star Fancy .. he/she is now almost 2 years in my tank and I am ready to give it a bigger place to live in.. it grew up since I got it so it is a time to let it go as well.. so please let me know if You have any info what I could do with it.. maybe someone is in need of those species..

Anyway, my name is Adam and I am glad there is a forum like Yours.

Welcome to TRT and NIMAS Adam!!!!

Sounds like your a very conscientious reefer, I'm sure you'll make a great addition the NIMAS!

There are really no official requirements to being a member of NIMAS just need to mave a love for reefing and a few posts under your belt. As soon as Jeff (Junkzoo) sees this I'm sure he'll explain it more.

WOOHOHO... guys and maybe some girls even.. I didn't expect such a warm HELLO from all of You.. First of all... sorry for my English.. it is my second language.. so I may sound kinda strange but I am trying as much as possible.. second.. I took some pics of my AP 24 as well as my room mate who lost interest into this hobby looong time ago so I took over his tank and with a minimum financial support from him, YES YES I am trying keep going both of these tanks.. and it is a FUN to do it..

some history on my tank.. bought it in January 2006... it came with 2 x 32W PC bulbs.. I kept it that way for a while and really wanted make the light better.. well I did some remodeling to it.. I added extra ballast.... as well as extra bulb.. so now instead of 2x32W I have 3x40W PC bulbs in that hood.. I had to add some fans to it to keep it cool.. my tank started looking nice at that point.. but I wanted more.. so I bought a Coralife Super Skimmer 65G and after fighting with it I rebuild it and now it fits perfect (just the pump) into my back chamber.. works great as well.. also in the first chamber added small pc bulb 13W which light thru the back wall of my tank.. added some chetao, rubbel, and 1 bag of chemi pure.. thats it.. everything is great till now.. but I wanted more so I bought a HQI light.. a 150W Sunpod and now I am just lovin it well while I was doing all the upgrades.. my room mate tank was pretty much simple.. so 2x32W pc bulbs..no skimmer, no refugium.. finally added to his tank refugium with same light .... then swapped his hood with my hood so now he has all the 120W of pc bulbs.. and also bought for to his tank a small nano skimmer - not a FUSSION skimmer made by current (this one is worthless).. forgot a name of it now BUT it works pretty well!!!! it fits into first chamber of his tank... then there are rubble, and chetao in second chamber.. so a mini refugium. His tank finally start looking nice.. and I had with it few problems in past.. mainly algae outbreaks...

Anyway here are pictures.. first two are of mine tank:

here are pics of my room mate tank...

well I hope U like it.. it is not much and as pretty as most of Yours but makes me happy and I am really hoping to go with CAD Aquarium 39G soon..

best regards..

Adam
