Ok Jeff, just bust out a hole saw for cutting wood, stick it in a variable speed drill, and go slow, and stop regularly to make sure that the plastic is not getting hot, if it does let it cool and start again. It takes a little while but is definately easy. Just make sure that the drill bit is a little bit bigger than the bulkhead so there is a bit of clearance to get it in the hole. You don't want your closed loop involved with your overflow either! If you drill your closed loop holes in your overflow area, you will end up with tons of micro bubbles coming out of your closed loop. So I think that you should drill at least 6 inches down from the water anywhere in the back of the tank in a area that you can get to it for cleaning the intake screen. Have fun, If I was there I would come over and help you out.

Tom are you still in Germany? I fugure if Jeff set the tank outside we can call in a strike on his position, get a half dozen people to point cat teaser laser pointers on the x's for the holes and hve neat 20 mm holes drilled\
Jeff stuff the tank with dense packing , oh and maybe some tape across tha back overlapped in sheets

Just got home from measuring the overflows they are 10x5 pleanty of room for a durso standpipe and then some heheh.

I am seriously considering using Sea Swirls on my returns run with Mag 9's and a closed loop run with the mag 12 I have now but I have heard horror stories about them leaking. I may drill 2 to 3 holes for returns from the closed loop with 1 intake.

What ya all think??

Hey Doug,
Ya I am still in Germany. I only have about 2.5 months to go b4 I get to come home (fingers crossed) I can hardly wait. My wife has been sending me pictures of my tank, and I can hardly believe how much everything has grown since I have been gone.

Jeff, just let me know when I should call in the air strike good luck with your drilling.

Well I got off the phone with Mike about a hour ago looks like Im gonna buy a pump (yet to be decided what kind) and head over to let him make swill cheese of the tank hehheheh. Actually Mike has some great ideas on returns and such so I will load it up and go over and turn him loose with a hole saw (shudder)

Thanks for the call Mike
