Awesome new lights!
Hey guys!
Just letting everyone know after months of waiting we finally have the Brand New JBJ K2 Viper Lights in!! If you are not too familiar with them they are basically a 70 or 150 watt HQI light for your nano tanks! These little lights are incredible and they are quite stylish as well.
They are now shipping so stop by and check them out!!

it's an awesome fixture. I had a pair before I purchased PFO 150 HQI /Actinics for my 29G.

For the month of April both models of the K2 Vipers will have free shipping. Hurry before my boss finds out that I changed the shipping prices again.

Hey, just a side note for everyone. We have been getting a lot of e-mails regarding the 150 watt Viper light. If you look at the light, there are 3 pivot points... one on the very bottom, one in the middle, and one right next to the lamp. When the lamps were originally shipped all three knobs were the same, non heat resistant material. However, the 3rd pivot point actually gets quite hot and simple physics will tell you that when an object is heated it will most often expand. That is what was happening with the knob right next to the lamp itself, the bulb would get hot, and warm the fixture expanding the 3rd pivot point causing it to collapse. So, JBJ sent us some new knobs that are metal instead of plastic and they are actually working pretty well. These only affect the 150 watt units as the 70's don't get hot enough to cause any slippage. I have the 150 over my tank and it has yet to slip with the new knobs. So, if you have already bought the light from us, give me a call 888-479-BLUE and I will send you a new knob at no charge.

Got my 70W
Hi, Brett. I told you'd i'd post a pic, so see below Just a note about the joint problem, it actually affected my 70w fixture, too. I spoke to Mark who said he'd send me a replacement nob. The head and the nob both do heat up quite a bit. I'm glad you've not had any troubles, thankfully, this only happened because I jostled it, so I can expect it won't happen while i'm not home. I will be glad to have the new nob, though
On to the review. The color is awesome, and the lamp is very bright! My 12g cube looks great under this light. I've been toying with optimal position for the lamp and it seems to be at about 8-9" above the tank to keep my temperature stable. Of course, this may change in the summer
Here are a couple of pictures I shot yesterday of the tank. Yes, there will be coral in it by the weekend.. i'll post updates...
So, thanks again Brett! I really love the lamp.
Angela.

Hey Angela,
I'm glad to hear that the lamp is working well for you, thanks for the input on the 70w fixtures; we will be replacing the knobs on them as well to avoid any slipping problems. Sorry I missed your call yesterday, I usually am out of the office on tues and thurs, and I was actually up in your neck of the woods most of the day.
The tank looks good, let me know if there is anything you need when you start stocking it.
With the height you have your lamp above the water, I don't think you will have any heat problems so that is good news. Keep me updated if you can; since these are such new lights, there is very little information out on them.. so I am taking all the feedback I can possibly get on them.
Thanks again for the pix and the input on the light, I'm glad it met your expectations!!
Talk to you soon
-Brett

Hi Brett. I see that you already shipped the knob out to me, thanks!
Yeah, i'm still playing with the height of the lamp to keep the tank below 81 degrees in mid-day... this tank also gets a fair amount of sunlight, which of course heats up the room and the tank a bit. I love this apartment for the light, but it does get hot.
Thanks for the offer. Next time you're coming up this way let me know, we can meet up.
Right now the tank is pretty stocked with sps frags. I'm now looking for a Fiji Yellow Leather (small or frag), and either a RBTA or a Crocea clam for the front isolated rock. I am not looking to pay big bucks for the rose, though, many people around here have splits so i'm just going to wait and see
Thanks!
