VWD's DYI Nano

I have never had a Nano or a tank in the size of a nano. This will be the first and as of right now I have nothing, and will be starting right here with lots of DYI ideas.

My plan is to create a unique tank on a small budget.

I also plan on building a tank out of plywood, a first for me.

Total volume I am think will be at 20 gallons.

Everything from Flow to lights will be build into this.

Substrate will be a sand bed

Livestock will most likely be a mix lps and Inverts

I have no pictures right now, I have not started anything and will be buying supplies over the next week and will take everyone along on this build with pictures and progress reports,I will try to do as many updates as possible. As the tank comes together I will fill You in with anything else that come up or changes that take place. I am looking forward to the build off and good luck to everyone.

I imagine it is a first for most people...one question...how will we see the fish/corals if the tank is made of plywood? Also, won't the plywood get waterlogged holding 20 gallons of SW?

Seriously, though, it sounds great, I look forward to seeing it.

Very Funny. What you don't think it will hold water? I will stick with the plan, Many people build large tanks out of plywood and they look good, I wanted to do a big plywood one but never have. I will do a nano. I have some pretty nice ideas as far as the filter and CLS for it , Total around 20 gallons with filter and CLS. The outter plywood will be Oak I think for looks, I will use a tape measure on the tank as I go in the pictures so You can all see that I stay withing the limits of what I have posted here. I have a lot of work ahead of me but will have some pictures soon .

no need for pics of wood, going to HD in the morning they have plenty. but really how thick will you use? pressure treated, or does that have bad stuff in it? I will learn a lot from your build but it is still funny. WOOD!!
