well, i have had some ideas and im putting the stand build on hold. My dad said that if he gets the right saw blade he can cut glass, so were gonna get the saw blade we need and buy some glass from where we can find it, were gonna check a local stainded glass store/shop around us to see if they have any plain clear glass that we can buy to use. Im either gonna make a overflow box or maybe put a false back on the tank with a 5ish gallon sump. so i dont want to build the stand until i find out what im gonna do for the tank.

Then stand is close to done, hopefully drilling the 10 gallon soon for a bulkhead to my sump. the sump is in place but still needs its baffles, and im considering a seperate fuge to, or maybe just a sump/fuge.
pictures in a couple minutes..

Ok, so lately I've been debating with myself as to what all im going to do with this tank. I was planning on doing a bunch of stuff so I could have most kinds of corals, but now i think im gonna stick with the softies, becase A)just going to stick with easy stuff since this is my first SW tank, and B)Twords the begging of the summer I am going to be setting up a 75gal reef tank, and I will use that for my urges to have bigger and better corals. So for now i think im just gonna use powerheads, and then eventualy probably make a CLS, but I just dont have the time right now to build a sump and overflow as my dad has to help me with alot of that and with the addition on our house thats still trying to getting the final touches he hasnt had a lot of time to help me in doing this, so like I said, im just gonna stick to the softies.

I think that's a really good plan. Sounds well thought out.

With the 75 in the future, I think you're doing the right thing!!!

Ok, so the more i think about this, the more i consider dropping out of the contest to focus on my 75, and then wait til after my 75 has been up for a while to consider another nano reef, i think it just seems silly to spend alot of time and money making a nano reef where i wont be able to do as much, and then later spend even more to have a tank where i can have alot more. so im still considering but i think im droping out, but theres still a chance ill stay

Well, nano is still on, im just gonna make this as simple as possible for me while still being able to handle the tank. For now, im just gonna stick with power heads in the tank, eventualy maybe a closed loop to get rid of powerheads. For lighting to start im gonna get the kit that takes the normal 10 gallon hood and puts 2 13 watt PC's in it, the kit only costs like $14 plus bulbs. Would that be enough light to keep softies?
but yeah, im not doing a sump, i might do a HOB AC fuge or maybe one of those in tank ones with the powerhead, but yeah, im still staying in this thing, hopefully im getting my sand this weekend so i can get water in the tank.
