Knucklehead Nano
Ok Im in... right down to the last day too!
Went through my parts tub last night and found an idea for my entry. I know its way to small, but will be fun to give it a shot.
5 1/2 cup capacity
Blue LED light
DIY micro-skimmer using air pump and some other parts
@ 1/2 lb LR
@1/4 lb LS
1.Dissasmbled the base/light
2.drilled a hole for airline tubing
3.using a few other misc. parts, I fashioned a micro-skimmer (seems to be working, open to other ideas here??)
Im thinking for live-stock I will just stick with the live rock/sand and the organisms in/on it.
Mabye add a small hermit.

Good luck!

wow, thanks for the encouragment!
I think I may have to add a sump/fuge to the system as I see this as the only solution to the super small volume of water... been workin on a couple of ideas for this.
Done some more FW tests with the micro-skimmer-need to improve the collection cup set up, used an adj. tip instead of an airstone this way I can adjust the air flow. At max force it bubbles the FW up pretty good into the collection cup, at the same time does seem to create a small amount of water movment, not sure if it is enough though.

The skimmer might be overkill IMHO. With a volume that small you'll need to top off and change water frequently. As long as you don't add a crap factory you filtration issue should be addressed with the water changes. A wicked idea though. Those lights come apart pretty easy you could probably add two white and anothe blue LED and up your light enough to support a single stoney frag. For circulation you could consider an aqualifter pump, that wouldn't be too much for that small a volume. You Pico Pioneers are brave souls.
BTW if you tune a skimmer with FW you'll skimm way way way wet. No bueno for so small a system.

Here is a shot of the colection cup, no foam yet but she's only been running w/SW setup since last night, looks to be catchin' some.
Seems adj. to mid-airflow about right...
