keeping the tank cool should not be a problem.

ANwyays...I"m gonna attach legs to the corners of the light hood that go down to the corners of the tank. At the end of the legs will be small upside down "U" shaped wrappers that will wrap over the corners.. Hard to describe..but they'll only stick out about a 1/2" in each direction from the corner.

uhm...so from the front, they'll look like two updide down U's joined at the side, perpendicular to each other. From the top, it'll look like an L.

yeah...hard to explain.

but anyways...don't wanna do it if the lights will melt the acrylic.
You even confused me and I'm in on this thing.

Kayla,
have a possible suggestion for the splatter effect.

if you take some of the extra acrylic you have and angle them under the tank, they will act like a funnel, this woudl cut down on drips or splatter..

okay...so just for S&G's, I decided to see what would happen if we hooked up the Mag 5 from my main 72gln display tank to this little nano.

Guess what I found out?

The pump you need really has little to do with the total water volume of your tank....and WAY more to do with how hight up water needs to be pumped.

A lot of you are probably gigglin' at my ignorance...but I really had no idea. I started thinking....hey...this tank's about 1/15th the size of my other tank...so I need a pump that pumps 1/15th the gph rating.

(sigh...SO wrong)

at least I know what pump to order now.

(You'll also notice there's NO water drops on the desk. I ran this for 15 minutes, without ANY water splashing out! So the tray was sufficient. I'd still make it bigger next time...but it works).

well...it's been curing in a tub. Once the amount of GUNK coming off/out of the rock dies down a bit, we'll probably be curing it in the system.

actually plan on leaving that T in the tank, and cutting the LR so it fits AROUND it. (like a saddle on a horse).

After I build the light canopy and cut the rock....it's ALL Kayla from here on out!

it's actually MUCH quieter than I thought it'd be. Still a VERY slight trickle sound though...but yes...kind of soothing.

I aint gigglin. I always just assumed that if your retun was in the bottom it would take more horse power to overcome the head pressure of a larger column of water. Cube looke betta brudda. Oops.... and sista!!!!!

I was telling my wife about this one the other night and during the conversation it dawned on me, Ill put $ on the fact that just about any snail you add will end up on the "outside" of the glass. Gotta think they will follow the flow down the side!

COOOL!!!

Mine go pretty much anywhere the current goes that they can fit, I have a empty HOB filter I use for movment (and the occasional polish) anyway them astreas are always crawlin in and out of it!!
