Awestralians Nano Cube

Ok ok since i cant get the actual tank started (i keep getting side tracked) i figured id throw up my opening post, with a pic of the tank in its present state in the hope that it may get me moving!
Add that to the fact that i finally got my dremel (well similar brand)(I wanted to do something a lil different that i couldnt use hole saws for )

My plans arent concrete yet, i keep changing them, but ill tell you what i have planned so far.
All plans stem from a 14" cube. It has been holding surplus freshwater breeding stock, and is still actually housing a few fish and leftover plants.

So after i empty the tank....!!

I was originally planning to build a hangon refugium/sump and drill the back panel to overflow directly into and out of the hangon. Now im toying with just doing a typical sump/refugium design. Will probably depend on what cabinet/stand i can dig up. It occurs to me lately it would be a bit of a waste of a cube to block off one side with a refugium...
Anyway as you can tell by my other thread, im looking at putting a flame hawk in, but i havent settled on that either.
It will be a mixed lps and sps tank. Specific corals havent been decided as yet, and will probably be a matter of whatever suitable stuff i can find that catches my eye as time goes by.

The idea with the hangon was to create a 3 sided wall effect with rock, along the back and two sides.
If i go with the sump then i will probably do a rock-pile-in-the-middle type setup.

Lighting will be from Blue Zoo, in the form of power compacts - Mini Aqualights - probably two of these, which would be 2x9w actinic and 2x9w 10000k.
So there a few decisions to be made as you can see!

Yeah of course. Some of them will go back into breeding tanks and there are plenty of other tanks for the rest. I removed the plants today.

Well i lied!
Its a 14" cube, not a 20" cube!
So ive edited my opening post to reflect this. Next time i should measure rather than relying on my dusty old brain to remember tank sizes, especially considering just how many tanks are out in the garage at any one time!

Ol' grey mare just aint what she used to be! Aint what she used to be! c'mon, sing along lol

Anyway i stumbled across an old 10" cube i had forgotten about as well, so im now thinking of a cube on cube design, having the 10" as the sump/refuge, but placed above the 14" cube on a half stand in an artistic sort of pose

The brain keeps ticking.

Ive emptied out the 14" and im about to give it a clean up - i think ill remove the black corner strips while im at it. I like the cleaner look of not having them, but it means i should probably reseal the tank to be safe (nee - HAVE to reseal not should reseal lol). Then it means doing the same to the smaller cube for uniformity sake... sheesh...

Thanks guys.

Still sore and stiff but getting better.

Im going to have to bow out of the buildoff, due to the accident, as both my wife and i have been unable to work for the past several weeks, and will not be able to work properly for the next few weeks either.

I will complete the nano cube sooner or later, but for now i will ask to have my entry/thread deleted shortly.
Good luck to everyone who entered, the whole contest is looking great!
