Underwater epoxy

Have any of you used the underwater marine epoxy that you can get at the hardware stores to glue corals in place in your reef tanks? They do not say that they are non-toxic so I'm nervous about trying them . Any thoughts or experiences would be welcome.

I've used some that I got a Menards in the past. I believe it has a blue wrapper around it. Can't remember what brand it is, but I've never had any problems with it.

I bought some from Wallyworld in the automotive section. It didn't affect anything in my tank, as far as toxicity.

I use Aquamend, which is carried at Home Depot. It doesn't make my skimmer go nuts, either.

Brian,

Was that epoxy plumbers putty that you used from Menards or the 2 part epoxy glue that has the 2-tube syringe type package? I have tried using the underwater epoxy plumbers putty to stick small mounted frags to larger rock and it just doesn't seem to stick very well. Maybe I'm not cleaning the surfaces well enough, I don't know.

The epoxy plumbers putty. You usually need to use a pretty big ball of it and smush it onto the rock and frag if it is a plating type coral, or find a crevance that the epoxy putty help to hold the coral pinched in place for a branching type or coral. Other brands may work better - but I haven't tried any other brands yet.

BTW - I usually only use epoxy putty as a last resort if the other methods for attachement don't work.
