tropic

So does anyone here like tropic waters? I guess for the most part the tanks are scuzzy, an dirty, and most of the peopel don't know what they are talking about. Their prices aren't that bad for most things. I go their regularly to see what is new, and maybe see if they have cleaned things up a bit. So let me know what everyone else thinks of the place. Thanks

Overpriced compared to who? Not much to really choose from around here, so i guess my options are limited. I go to the cities alot, but always seem to check in on tropic. I am looking forward to checking out the new place. When is it going to be open?

Their prices suck, their fish are usually sick, their BIRDS are usually even worse off (Almost every time I see plucked, sick finches and budgies), and really I don't go there unless I NEED something that can't wait and everything else is closed.

Christ, even their danios (targetfish for my cichlid tank) are overpriced.
I can go to Variety Store and get them for under a dollar a piece or I can pay close to $2 there.
Hmmm...

Nevermind that they sell MUTTS as "designer breeds" (I'm sorry, but a beagle/dachshund, goldendoodle, schnauzer, labradoodle, papillion/border collie, etc...may be cute and all, but they're still MUTTS. If you want a mutt, don't pay $600+ for one, haul your arse over to the animal shelter.), and all of their dogs and kittens come from mills.

i completely agree 100 %. i will not buy anything there unless i have to in a pinch. even his equipment is overpriced i had penguin powerheads there for 40 - 50 dollars... hmmm i think i can order them off the internet and pay for shipping and still get them cheaper. i asked him about maxijets never heard of them, is what i was told. same thing with the salifert test kits, said they never heard of that brand.

Don't get me wrong. I am not saying it is a great store. I guess their prices to me don't seem to be that overpriced compared to other stores. Everything is cheaper over the internet. It is kind of hard to compare prices over the net. I know that they were the cheapest place I could find to buy lights for my tank. I am not going to bash the store. I will say it needs some work, and some poeple that care.
