RIP... Spot
Well, Spot (lawnmower blenny) is now my second vicitim of being a bad sw mom.
I got home from work...and he was basically laying on the bed of the tank. How sad.
I actually think that my whole tank is starting to crash. I'm afraid to take the parameters of it. Geez, where did I go wrong with this?

The same thing happened to my LMB a while back. Just check your water parameters and (hopefully) ease your mind. What makes you think everything is starting to "go south?"

Well, I woke up this am and he's still alive. Poor thing.
It's weird, because he was eating every day from the veggie clip. He is so thin and not gaining any weight. He's as thin as a piece of paper. He's still changing colors and moving around a bit. Maybe there's some hope for him.
I did a gallon water change, last night, and hope that this helps. I just did a two gallon water change a few days ago, since I've been having so many problems with the nitrates. Everything in the tank looks good today (except for Spot). I'm such a worry-wort.

what all do you have in the tank? Is it possible that it is overstocked and thats why the nitrates are high? Just a thought. Keep your head up though, I am ashamed to admit that I murdered quite a few fish while I was learning how to care for my tank properly .
Good luck!

Do you know what is causing your nitrates to be high? If not, could you post some specs in your tank (size, filtration, fish, feeding habits, etc...) so I/we can try to help you figure out how to get your nitrates down. Hopefully Spot will pull through.

I think we should have the next meeting at your place so we can all fix your problem.

Spot is still alive.
My nitrates are/where high due to overfeeding. I need to test my parameters this weekend, during the afternoon hours, and I'll let ya all know what they are.
I have a nine gallon-nano, Odyessa, with white/blue compact bulbs. It is an all-enlosed style, so there is no place to put a skimmer or anything else that would need to hang off the tank. I have an additional 10gallon filter pump in it just to circulate the water more.

It's final... he's gone to the big fishtank in the sky.
I'm going to miss the little bugger. He was cute. I guess that I'll take it as a lesson learned about fish in a nano tank.... limit, limit, limit yourself and don't overfeed.
I'll stick with the fish that I have - two damsels - and just concentrate on the corals in this tank.

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to send spot off to that big fishbowl in the sky...
May he RIP.
Sorry to hear of your loss, if there is anything I can do, I am here for you...
I do think that just sticking with the two damsels should pretty much be all you should go with in a tank that small, especially without a skimmer, so you have like an internal filter then? Do you run carbon? If so how often do you change it?

You may have over stocked and over feed your tank. I would monitor the nitrate levels and also check the water temperature. Two years ago I lost my tank because of a bad thermometer. Changing your water more frequently will help drastically until you find your problem. Hope this helps

i have been having a problem with my heaters... they keep blowing out. i bought a new one and hope that this one will keep working. i'm always checking the temp. in the tank... the two heaters that i had weren't keeping the temp. level and i was always having to adjust it.
the tank is clear now and i do believe that overstocking and overfeeding were the big problem with my nitrates, and the heat being up and down and up and down all the time. hopefully with the water changes that i have been doing and will continue to do, the less stock, and a better heater will get my tank back to 'normal'.
