Red Mushroom from Chazz

I got a beautiful little red mushroom from Chazz yesterday, took it home, glued it to a cement disk, watched it be pretty, went to bed... when I woke up in the morning it was gone. I got a mushroom from another club member a few weeks ago and that one disappeared too.
What's happening with them? They are no where in the tank.
I don't seem to be able to glue anything and have it hold. I'm gonna stick with using rubberbands for everything from now on.
I'm so bummed about this. Super nice people giving me super nice frags and they disappear.
Sorry everyone.
Now I gotta put the red mushroom back on my wish list.

Shrooms and xenia will not attatch by super glue 90% of the time. Have you looked all around the base of the rocks including in back of them? That is where mushrooms usually move and attach themselves to. Unless something ate them which I would seriously doubt, they are there, you just cant see them.

I can totally relate to that happening!! I lost so much stuff, but after searching around and looking under rocks I would usually find the stuff again ....eventually. Or one day it will just show up. It will come out from where it is hiding to get light.

A turky baster is a good way to suck them out from under ledge.

When I attach a mushroom to a rock, I will put it next to a rock and lean another rock or shell up to it to hold it in place a few days and it will most always grab hold.

I create a low flow corner in the tank and place empty snail shells in the bottom. The area is surrounded by rocks so nothing can get blown out of there. After a week or two, the new coral will usually be attached to enough rubble/snail shells that it can be moved and glued somewhere else. Some people also like to use a plastic toothpick to hold the coral in place for a couple weeks.
