Joe, Wow! That's awsome being able to keep the RTBA and LTA in a 20 g. What kind of lighting do you have? I don't have an RBTA, but will get one from Lori pretty soon here. I hope to have success with it in a 20g as well, because that's all I have and don't have any intentions of upgrading in the near future. If you need any help with your upgrade, let me know.

Lighting is a 175w MH pendant with 10,000K bulb. I'll try to post pictures of the tank setup later this afternoon or tomorrow.

I have noticed that sometimes mine do split after a water change. This week what I did was move a couple of the rocks that have anemones on them- really really close to the side of the tank. Basically nudging them up against the glass wall of tank. (I will show a pic) Just relocating them so close to the wall is all I am doing to hopefully "coax" them to move onto the glass? We will see if it works? I have had a lot of splits since I got my first rbta about a year ago. What I usually do is put small rocks by the foot and when they split they usually move onto this smaller rock that I can easily take out of the tank.

I do not want to try to get them off my large base rocks that they all happen to be on right now, but I can easily get them off the glass.

this pic shows how a couple of them are up against side of tank. The are now starting to stretch upward, and it looks like they are going to move off the rocks and on to the tank wall.

Lori, Nice tank! The RBTAs look great as well!

Joe - I also have a 175W over my 20g, but I have a 15000K bulb instead of 10K. How do you like the 10K? I suppose you get really good growth on your corals and such.

I have yet to see anything higher than 10K in person, but I've heard 14 and 20K are a little more pleasing to the eye. Personally, I don't see a terribly big difference. Growth will be good with each, it's more a matter of personal viewing preference. I'd go with 10K or 14K, as I like the look of the 10K with my tank right now. I'll light my 75gal with either of those two, as I think the 20K is just too blue for my liking. But, to each his/her own I guess ...

From what I have been told, most bulbs in the 10K range have a higher PAR - thus more coral growth. The 20K bulbs are more blue, but some think the corals have better color with them. That's why I picked the middle of the road with a 15K, good color and growth, IMO.
