I've got a royal gramma and a hi-finned goby. I had a small clingfish for awhile, but I think he either jumped into a back chamber and I didn't find him or starved since I haven't seen him in awhile. He had the tiniest little mouth, and I never saw him eating.

I can't see pics on this forum sorry... I could probably help you in final decisions for what's nano suitable if you like when you have a list made up, but most small fish (that stay small) are suitable, and you'll want one that doesn't require a lot of swimming room.

i would like to keep together a 2 fish, but the 2 i want most likely will not get along, i wanna get that small tail spot blenny, and little yellow watchmen goby. i think they would fight they are both bottom dwellers. but reading the compatability chart on Dr Foster and Smith it does say gobies and blennies can co exist. but i think they are more referring to the firefish and the other mid swimming gobies.

any suggestions?

I've kept 2 scooter blennies with a yellow watchman goby without problem, and they're both bottom dwelling species; it might depend on a little luck with the fish you get. If you get a shrimp to go with the ywg he'll spend most of his time in a tunnel, so that could help with territorial boundaries. Even before I got my goby a shrimp the fish got along ok, but this was in my 44 gallon so they had a little more wiggle room. I attached a pic of them hanging out together. I'm not sure about the small tail spot blenny; I've never had any experience with them. The ywgs will defend their area (usually just a few inches around the tunnel opening if they have a pistol shrimp) by charging whatever comes close with their mouths open. Brave little guys, I loved mine.

very cute pic Liza. before i make my decision could you tell me are the nanos considered to have a tight fighting lid?

these are my options i have narrowed down

1. blenny and goby
2. blenny and flasher wrasse
3. goby and flasher wrasse

If you're asking about the lids on the nanocubes they fit well if you take the time to close them down completely after opening them (mine will have a little gap in the front unless I make sure it's properly aligned). There is an issue with fish jumping the back of the tank into the 3 filter chambers, though. When my hi finned goby was new to the tank and skittish he jumped the back into the chambers twice. Luckily I found him still healthy and now he's settled in and made a home under the lr and I've had no further problems with him. It can be an issue you would want to address first, though. I've seen a thread or two devoted to the subject over at the other site if you want to research what others have done to combat the problem. Are you considering a nanocube now?

As for your fish choices, I'm not sure there are any wrasse that are well suited for a nano tank. The smallest I'd put your flasher wrasse in would probably be a 30 gallon. Then again, royal grammas aren't generally considered good for a nano tank, and mine appears to be happy (he's even got his own hole in the lr where he lives). There are some sites that sell fish broken down into categories of nano suitable. If you check out the Dr. F & S site I know they do. Keep in mind with them that some of the fish they have listed (catalina goby, for example) prefer colder water temperatures and without a chiller it will be nearly impossible to keep your water temperature down low enough to keep them and still have lighting bright enough for any corals. With the small amount of water in them temperature can really dramatically swing up and down if you don't moniter it carefully, and I've found it's easiest to just keep it at a slightly higher temperature constantly than try to keep it cool during the hours the lights are on.
