New to area and introducing myself
Hello all!
First I would like to introduce myself. I'm Chris. I've been involved in reef tanks for 4 years now after moving to Florida from Wisconsin. In Florida, my first reef tank ended up being a 29g standard that thrived while just using an emperor filter.
After a few months and few tank purchases until I got the size I like I upgraded to a 75g with 30L sump. I started the 75g with a Tek 6x54 T5 fixture then upgraded to MH175's for 1 week and then to MH 250's with actinics. Also, I was able to keep LPS and SPS in this system with some of my monti caps up to 10" across.
Unfortunately in Sept 08 I had to take the tank down after my wife and I decided it was time to move back to Wisconsin in hopes of finding a teaching position in a public school. (that hasn't happened yet). So my wife, who is the teacher, settled with teaching grades 3-5 in the same classroom at a very small private school in Waumandee. After being here for a year I can't put off having a tank any longer. The itch is here!
I'm unable to set up the 75g right now because we are still in a rental house until she gets a public teaching job and we finally settle down in an area.
So for now I'm in the process of trying to get a smaller tank up and going and will ask many questions.
I've been on the LAX forums for a few weeks now and neglected to visit EC boards.
