I will be getting my kalk drip going hopefully this weekend, too. I kept my mixed 120 going with about that much. It depends completely on the amount of calcium your tank inhabitants require and use up. Be sure that you do regular (every day) calcium testing for a while until you know exactly how much to dose. If you dose too much, you'll have a dust storm of precipitate that can do some pretty serious damage.

if you over do without testing your calcium your gona throw your levels off.....i would get a test kit before you start dosing the tank.....IMO....

carl found that out as well....had his ca reactor running and it threw his ca and alk thru the roof.....

your ca levels should be fine unless your heavily stocked in sps and lps corals.....and your doing your regular weekly water changes....

i know you said your wanting to get clams in there as well....ya youll need the extra for them....but i dont see the need to dose your tank if its not needed right now......unless im missing something here?????

glad you found some.....walmart has it....IN THE BACK...just hasnt put it out....but thats no surprise with the HALLIE walmart...lazy lazy lazy

I know that calcium is one of the biggest leading aides in producing coraline algae...

Keep your Ca and Alk on the higher side of what is normally recommended, and then give your tank plenty of time to grow the coralline. It also might help, if you have some growing on the glass, to scrape/chip it off so small pieces can land elsewhere and help spread the growth around the tank better.

Well, if there's no coralline to start with, it can't spread/grow... You're using live rock and not dry rock that you're trying to turn into live rock, correct? If it's "real" live rock that you cured, there SHOULD be coralline on the rock, at least a tiny bit at the minimum I'd think. But, if you can't see ANY coralline, then you may want to get some coralline "scrapings" from someone to help "seed" it in your tank.
