Just some updates.
That poor coral is still not very perky, but not changing color or looking 'dead' so I'm assuming he's still acclimating.
The bubble tip scared me earlier today by pulling in on itself, but it's back out again so I'm guessing it was just feeding.
Green anemone is doing great; very spread out and nice.
All the little guys attached to the bits of rock have opened up as well.
The tang has figured out that the anemones are not fun things to poke at; he tried poking both and very quickly swam away. Now they get a lot of space from Mr. Tang.
There are some bluish things that have opened up as well; I can't recall what they are, but there are two of them. One is on a rock and the other fell onto the sand. They look sort of like a combination of a mushroom cap and a flower.
Heh, someone here probably knows what they are and will tell me.
Anyway, in an effort to try to help out the little coral (and really, just because I needed to do so), today I picked up an actinic only light, a new (i.e. second) light strip, an iodine supplement, and some micro-vert food.
The light we had before was one of the power-glo 18,000k lights that says it's good for inverts and corals (as well as live planted tanks, etc..) but one can never be too careful so...
If nothing else, the combination of the two lights makes for a very colorful and nice to look at tank.
The bubble tip seems to glow about six different shades of red (varying from purplish to pink shades) under that light. If I get around to it, I'll add some pics later on.
Oh! And Chaz, when I checking out at PetCo, I saw your poster for the Eau Claire reef club; quite a few of the contact tear offs were gone and the guy bagging up my stuff asked me if I'd heard about it yet.

....much to my bank account's dismay.
This is the one pet expense that my husband and I don't quibble about cost on though as he's just as nuts for this tank as I am (and I'm TRYING to get him to create an account here.)

The bluish things might actually be Electric Blue Mushrooms. I know Lori had some very nice ones in her tank.

They could very well be; I know she said a few extras had hopped along for the ride.
There are three of them, I found tonight.
One is on the same bit of rock that the coral is on, one is on another piece of rock and the third is down in the sand.
Whatever they are, they're adorable little things. They remind me of buttons.

Hi Colonel! Good to see you here!
Yes, I passed along a couple of the blue mushrooms. The anemone will shrivel up to expel waste periodically, and it looks scary but that is normal. The other tree type coral may take some time to fully expand. The little purple matt also has a white flower looking coral that will come out of it, but that is one that also takes some time to adjust after switching tanks. There are also some round orange zoos on a shell that you may see start to open up pretty soon. Has the anemone tried to relocate?

Heh, yeah, the anemone gave me quite a scare yesterday afternoon; it's one of those things that I'm sure I'll get used to as I get used to the animal. The first time my tarantula molted I had to keep reminding myself that she wasn't actually dead even though she looked it (on the back, legs curled) so...I guess for awhile, I'll just have to repeat the mantra, "Not dead, expelling waste. Not dead, expelling waste."
I've noticed a bit of white on the purple mat. Nice to know what that is.
The coral I'm not terribly worried about as I do recall you telling me that it would take awhile to open back up and adjust. Its color is very good, so I'm sure it's doing just fine.
The anemone seems, for now at least, to be happy with where I've put it. It hasn't tried to move just yet, but we'll see if it still likes its location after it's fully settled in.
Oh! Odd question as I've just thought of it; when (or if, I suppose) you feed the liquid food to the filter feeders, do you use a syringe to do it more directly?
We're looking at going with that method, but are just wondering if there's any place that sells fairly long syringes so we don't have to go nearly shoulder deep into water to feed directly.

I really do not really feed my corals much but you can just put a little in the tank and it will drop down to them. I do occsionally feed the anemones though. I use a baster and use the same food I fish the fish, and just give it a little pinch now and then. It will close up around the food. If you feed them, they will grow very quickly! Since you have a large clown, feeding yours might be a good idea for awhile. You may also notice in time that your clown may feed the anemone himself. This is pretty cool!

I think Pertinax may have already been feeding the anemone.
Tim remarked that it looked like they were "kissing"; Pertinax had his face buried in the anemone's center after food was put into the tank last night for the evening feeding.
I'm still in awe over how much more active and happy that clownfish seems to be. He doesn't aimlessly circle around the surface anymore and spends most of his time down by the anemone. It's so amazing that after never having even seen an anemone in his life he KNEW. That's some hardwired instinct right there.
They really ought to be sold in pairs from pet stores; clowns and host anemones.
Given their size difference, and even though Pertinax seems to be feeding the little guy, a little extra food certainly can't hurt to encourage quick growth.

I hear from her once in awhile. I need to call her! She is all done with reefkeeping for now, but I am sure she will return to it one day.
I will make her come to the meeting for sure though! I am sure she would not want to miss it.

I owe her big time, she bird-sat my wifes parot last month when she was away. Now that she is in her new place, lets talk her into a tank. At least a nano.

nanos are fun
I put some marine snow in with the new corals and I can't really see them specifically eating it, but when I come back five minutes later I've seen zoa's and my yellow polyps closed up when they had been open, and also that new green coral you gave me, Lori (he has all his brown polyps waving in the current). I've heard mixed reactions about the marine snow on other sites, though. Just my observations.
