Is this a coral? Man v. Woman

I think this is something really bad for the tank...my wife thinks it is a pretty coral. I know I should just side with her for the fact that I could still sleep in the bed, but I still have a place in my heart for the fishies.

So, is this a bad thing growing or is it actually a coral that I was able to keep alive?

Please advise...a lot rides on this.

I've never had them myself (knock on wood), but they look like they could be Majano Anemones. If so they are considered a pest by most as they reproduce and spread quite easily.

I would say there a tulip anenomie. Yes they look neat. but they can grow all over in your tank. Yes they will sting corals. They can look nice if you don't want much stuff to grow around them. Me personally I don't like them, they can be some work to get rid of.

Definitely majano and bad in my opinion and will spread rapidly and if you keep any other type of coral can sting them. Here is a link to hitch hikers see the info on majano anemones
http://www.xtalworld.com/Aquarium/hitchfaq.htm

I have used joe's juice with great success. They take a little more than your average aptasia but after a couple of doses it did the trick, of course I only had a couple. If they are only on those two rocks I would take those two rocks out to treat as to use the amount of joe's juice that it will take to kill them can be too much for your tank or i say if you want to do it while they are in your tank one by one.... If you take the rock out you can often take a knife and pluck them off but you have to get all of it under the foot and all. With the joe's juice you can squirt right in the mouth with the syringe that comes with it.

you might be able to just burn the off out of the tank also? I'm guessing on that, correct me if I'm wrong. But that also works on Aptasia and since joes juice is for both of those I would guess this. also.

sucks that its a pest.....its and interesting lookin nem.............i think the pullin of the rock and treating outa the tank is a better option since you have so many of them......the only bad part is losing what ever else may be growin on that rock.....

would boiling water work on these as well? ive heard that that kills alot of pest nem's?
