In need of Poly Filter if possible

I was using a metal clamp to secure a piece of tubing to the inlet of my hang-on 'fuge. I removed it tonight and replaced it with a strong plastic zip tie because it had started to rust a little. However, as I loosened it to remove it, a few pieces of rust fell into the overflow. Do any of you in the Eau Claire area have a little piece of Poly Filter that I could get from you? I'm sure it would be good to run a small piece of Poly Filter right now to remove any metals that may have gotten into the tank via the rust.

Please let me know, it would be very much appreciated.
Joe Schneider

I just use a poly fiber fill you can find at Walmart. Its about 1/8 thick and cheap - about $2.00 per yard or some where around there. I sew that into a sock and will occasionally attach it to the over flow pipe that goes to my sump. I don't have any good socks right now. If you need some of the poly fiber fill, PM me or stop by walmart - trust me it works

Poly Filter is a chemically treated filtration pad that removes heavy metals, medications, etc. from the water as the water flows through it. I don't need to physically remove anything, I need to chemically remove any metals that may have gotten into my system from the rust that fell in. Thank you for your offer, but it looks like I may just have to hope for the best that no toxic metals were released into the water. I'm not extremely worried, but it never hurts to take precautions. I need to order more Poly Filter, though, to make sure I have an emergency piece of it in case of any future accidental "poisoning" of the tank. You never know how important something like a Poly Filter can be until you really put something into your tank chemically that shouldn't be there...

Thank you for trying to help me out, David,
Joe

I'd let you use one of mine, but I think I'm a little to far away to get it to you. Doesn't TW sell polyfilters? I would think that someone up there must.

I avoid TW as much as is humanly possible... Everything in the tank is doing fine, so I think all is well. :-)
