Carl, do you still have this? I'm using Coralife salt, so I'll take it off your hands. :-)

Let me know, thanks,
Joe

No worries. I've got a half bucket of it in the basement anyway. :-)

For the price Reef Crystals or Instant Ocean seem to be preferred.

Salt mixes are pretty much all the same. There are small differences in amounts of trace minerals and what your final calcium and alkalinity readings will be, but it's nothing that makes one brand of salt the "ultimate" and best brand. I use either Coralife salt or Instant Ocean/Reef Crystals, depending on what I can get the largest quantity of for the best price.

its good to stick with one type of salt and if you need to switch do it gradually.... Joe do you still use the coralife?..... different salts have a different make up and may or may not have different perks Reef crystals is suppose to have a higher calcium and magnisum rating compared to I/O. To compare other salts I can't get into that because I really haven't looked into them that much. In my Aquapod I ran Oceanic. In my 72 I run reef crystals..... Why.. personal preference and because of the "higher ratings" and price. Have I gone ahead and measured everything out to prove all this. NO Its been more of word of mouth. Pluse I don't have all the stuff to compare it properly $$$$. If you do a search here you should find alot more info. Marinelands I/O has been around for MANY years. Per them Reef crystals is there step up model., Coarlife salt has only been around for a few years ( I think, correct me if I'm wrong) some say thats better yet. then there are still many other salts out there. Some of it you have to look at your area. What can you get @ How much and is it worth the shipping if needed.

I needed a bucket of salt for rock cooking, and I was at All-Reef in Stillwater. Peggy Had Coralife and (I think) IO, and she said she loves the Coralife and uses it exclusively in her store. So, that sold me.

I know that some are "better" than others because of more Ca or Mg or whatever, but at the end of the day, I dose 2-part and Magnesium, so I go with whatever salt mix is the most convenient for me. Right now, it's Coralife... And, Coralife seems to be pretty cheap in cost, which I approve of. :-)
