ok 2 things clowns dont nessisarily need an anenome ( mine host frogspawn instead) or anything.

2nd the ones at petco are just condi's They don't do any good for reef tanks except kill things and clowns don't host them. If your looking for a bubble tip at some point let me know.

Clowns have been known to host in condis but it is rare. I had a pair of false percs and a pair of gold striped maroons do it.

Sometimes clowns will host and other times they won't. Sometimes it just takes time.

Yup...he said it.

Clown fish are an Indo/Pacific species and your Condy nems are from the carribean...on rare occasions a clown will host in a Condy, but generally one or the other ends up dead...either the clown harasses the nem till it declines (Condy's do not host in their normal environment) or once the nem grows a bit it will eat the clown (again because they are not a host in their normal environment). Do some research on the subject and you will find info on suitable nems for your clowns (most are very high light animals so make sure you lighting is up to par also)...or as stated above find a frogspawn, torch, hammer or other suitable coral which can act as a host.

Aren't most clowns tank raised these days? It was my understanding that with tank raised clowns they will host/rest on anything, like my power head or thermometer. It took two years for my clown to start hosting (kind of) in a green bubble. Good luck.
