Give them time... They'll come around to it. Try feeding them with the lights on. That will give them some confidence. Also, what other inhabitants fish wise do you have in the tank that could be possibly causing an issue?

If you have tried feeding them when the light is on you could try not feeding them for one day (even two days) then feed all the fish as this will force them to come out during the feeding time to beat out the other fish. (and yes not feeding your fish for a few days is o.k. as they can go long periods of time w/out eating our prepared foods *they'll snack on stuff w/in the tank*)

When I had my clown (before the dumb thing somehow got sucked into the overflow and ended up on a filter pad in the sump) it did some of the same things. I thought it was dead because it was swimming weird at the top of the corners in the tank. It seemed to only do it when the lights were off though. It ate and seemed healthy....but idk why it acted all weird. Just thought I'd let ya know that you are not the only one to see clowns acting weird~~~

If a clown does not have something to host in it's very common for them to swim near the overflows and or at the top of the water (both times I've had oce. clowns they've done that and neither time I had an anemone for them to host that's part of the reason).
btw as long as it does eat that's the main thing... I would still try not feeding them for a day and then only feed them when the lights are on. Which forces them to understand that the food only comes when lights are on.

Speaking of hosting... I've even seen them host GSP (Green Star Polyps).
