aptasia. You can torch it, or lemon juice sirynge, or kalk paste, the key with the two latters is to do it directly into the mouth when it is open. Or just get a couple of pepermints.

Aptasia. Mojona, usually, has more rounded tips.

GRRR!!!!! i heard about baking live rock... i boiled water and squirted that with a syringe into the mouths and it didnt even phase them. i thought aiptasia the tentacles retract, but when i touched the tentacles with the tip of the syringe tentacles didnt retract the whole thing foot and all went back into the hole. and i believe that is the characteristic of mojona.
but i have to get it out quick before it over takes my nano.

It is called cooking live rock, and that is what I am doing with the rock that I bought from them, I did not notice anything on them.. but in the dark I guess it would not come out. If you can cook it do so, it is really easy to do, just go to the main forum and search cooking rock you will get step by step instructions. They had it cooking as a precaution, and because it is a great way to make sure you dont end up with any algae. It just must not have cooked for quite long enough. I would seriously try the lemon juice thing though, it does not have any ill effects on your water column.

BTW, on a side note I hope you like the frogspawn, and hope to chat with you at some point about the 46.

yes i do like the frogspawn, it opened within an hour. but i must see what i can do with this ugly aiptasia. i could try to net one of my peppermints from my 46 and see if it will eat it. But i maybe better off cooking it instead. i at least counted 15 of them then i lost count. if i do bake it, will it lose the coralline? then i will have to re cure it wont i?

use kalk paste or joes juice etc the trick is to over feed the tank so they are all eating. when aptasia eat it is harder for them to shrink away and there for easier to inject somthing into them.
watch your dkh and ph levels as most injectable killing agents rais them.
natural solution is buy a few peppermint shrimp.

I apologize if you weren't told of the aptasia on the rock....I thought I had told all that were interested in it that it was a possibilty. We had cooked the rock....guess it wasn't quite long enough. If you were to cook your rock you would lose all of your coraline coverage. But it would regrow later. You would however retain all of the beneficial bacteria so you would not have to re-cure it.
Your peppermint shrimp will take care of them quickly without any risks of messing up your PH. Personally this is the route I would take. However, I have not tried the lemon juice trick and I trust Mary completely when she says no adverse effects to the water column.
It will be beautiful rock for you once the coraline finishes covering it.

alos aptasia usually survives quite a while without food and do not need light to live.

i just took the 2 pcs out of the tank and into a rubbermaid tote, and i will see what i can do with it tomorrow. i didnt want to leave the rocks in the tank overnight since they could spread in that amount of time. Maybe someone local here that has a little butane torch would let me borrow it for alittle bit.
