Well...

Thanks to some interest from you guys, and Gregt, we're now officially a club (at least to TRT!

)

Just wanted to drop a line and share what I'd like to see from this club, and ask for feedback from others on what they'd like to see from this club.

Some goals I have (please chime in):

Early education (help new hobbiest avoid pitfalls we all made early on)
Share information/husbandry techniques. (Learn from others successes and mistakes)
Getting Help locally (Moving? Setting up a new tank? Going on vacation? DIY projects?)
Trading (Frags. Equipment. one man's junk is another's treasure)
Local Info (Best LFS's? For fish? Corals? Any local news marine related?)

I'd also like to share my desire for this club to carry on the same motive of TRT. A place to do all of the above, without fear of judgement and ridicule. I love that TRT is full of people who genuinely want to help others, for no personal gain, other than to see their critters and the hobby itself flourish. I would truly like the club to be in that same spirit.

Also, my final request is that this club be open to not only reefer's, but to all marine hobbiests. Fish only? Inverts only? Reef? Preditory Fish? I am a firm believer in the more the merrier.

Also, in that same line of thought, I'd say this club should be open to all in the area. So while the club's current name is Western Maryland Reef Club, I see no reason why Northern Virginia, DC or any other close area can't be where our members call home.

Anyways...this will start the ball rolling, and let's see where it takes us.

Uhhhh..... I would like to join. But i dont think i will be able to attend meetings do to its a long drive from SW FL.
But my sister lives in Maryland does that count??

We're pretty much in the early stages of starting a club, right now. I'm looking to find an interest, then see what we can do from there.

For now, we're sharing our advice/critique's on local fish stores in the area. Got a fav? one you hate? you can read through, and post yours here:

I'll add you to the list. Once we get the logo finished, I plan on distributing flyers to the LFS's in my area..and asking others to post some in their LFS's as well.

When we get a good group of people, I was gonna volunteer to hold a get together at my house just to get us off the ground (and give out some free frags maybe?). From there, we'll discuss where to go.

Anyways...good to see another person intersted, and I'll keep you posted.

(side note: it's kind of hard to remember to check in this area/forum of TRT, so might be a good idea to subscribe to this forum, so you get an e-mail notification when a post is made).

We just moved from CA and are trying to stock our new 24 g Nano Cube. We've been trying to find a store that has some good deals and find some people that sell frags. Any suggestions would be great. We'd definitely like to join the club, though!
