Free Tang!

hello everyone, I'm new to the reef tank and as a result, I am moving too fast! ! I have modified a eclipse 29G with chiller, skimmer, upgraded lights, blah blah blah. tanks cycled, live rock, 2 small clowns, watchmen goobie, flame angel, and the powder brown tang. It did not occur to me at the time, the tang is now just a little fella, bout 3-4 inches but I don't think my tanks large enough for him as he may grow up to 8 inches. I have had him 3 days now, and he blasted my tank with ich, and now my flame angel has it. they are both in a very small 2.5 gallon treated with coppersafe. I'm hoping the clowns and watchmen remain clean, as the treatment tank is way to small for even just 1 fish. Sooooo the tang is eating, even in the little tank. and my flame is sort of eating. If some one local has a side tank for curing purposes I am more than willing to Give him away. I live in the district and I am willing to drive as far as Gaithersburg to give this guy the larger home he needs. I will post pic's this evening when i return from work. he really is a beauty, bright blue and yellow, looks dark grey not powder brown.

pic's of the upgrade and the tang. keep the side and back covered with wrap cause the sun comes down on the tank from the sky light. Hence the reason for the chiller probably. ph, nite, nate, cal, kh, and all that is good and in the clear!, sal/grav is right in the middle/good! corals have shown no signs of bothersome since the ick out break......so who wants this tang? My objective is to have the tank open on both sides at the evening hours. hence the reason 1/2 of the tank is covered, so no excessive algae build up occurs during day light hours. still a noob here any advise or Constructive learning is always welcome.

HI,
the color is normal for a teenage blue.
the SG level is right in the middle???
Glad you have decided to let him go to a bigger system. Just a side note, Tangs are great for getting Ich and black spot.
as far as the blockingof light. are you seeing an increase in tank temps during the day time?

Thumbs up

put him down

thanks for the reply, sadly I put him down Monday morning. He was completely covered with ich and his breathing was intense, he could not even swim. I'm a murderer and my flame angel died that morning too. I do see a fluctuation in temp during daylight hours. Probably 4-5 degree, I know, I gotta move the tank, the skylight is beaming on about 1/3 of the tank during mid day hours. clowns seem fine. Worst case all the fish die and i will just let the tank sit for a few months let the coral grow, then slowly introduce one small fish at a time until I get it right! I'm not giving up yet

Yes done give in yet.
If the house has AC, then you might not need to move the tank. but if you have a spot picked out then cool..
Sorry to hear he passed. they are a great looking fish.

Swimswim, welcome to TRT. And don't give up. You aren't a murderer. You are a humane fish keeper. Putthing them down is better than letting them suffer when they get that bad.

Good luck with the tank.
