The Asheville Aquarium

Hello. My name is Dave Strack, and hopefully it won't seem too presumptuous to introduce myself and the LFS we are opening in Asheville. I've been keeping fish for over 22 years and I have a real passion for the hobby. I'm opening a store that I think a true hobbyist will appreciate and invite you all to check us out in March.

The Asheville Aquarium is the store's name, and it is located off Patton near Sam's on the west side of Asheville. We have been working on the design and construction of the store since December and, while we've encountered some delays due to permit issues, schedule conflicts and some design changes to our systems,... I think we've overcome all the obstacles and should be able to open no later than the 2nd week of March. The store is going to be geared for the saltwater and reef enthusiast, but also have plenty for everyone from freshwater beginners on up. At any rate I think we're going to create a store that's slightly different than what's here now. I've spoken to some Asheville Reef Club members and I'm looking forward to working with the group to help us both get noticed.

I'm happy to answer any questions, (or read comments or suggestions). Thanks for your time and I look forward to your replies!

HI Dave, welcome, can't wait for you to open. I know you've got a lot on your plate right now but maybe the Asheville Aquarium could host the next meeting. What do you think?

Yes, absolutely! I had talked at length with Rick, and was surprised at how little attention you guys were getting from other LFS in the area. One of the big things I hope to do with the store is help educate people on how to keep fish successfully (not just sell them!), and bring a better awareness of groups like the Asheville Reef Club to people who don't know you're out there. Who better to help teach about the success of keeping tanks successfully then those who have been successful with the hardest systems to keep?

I can't promise much on what corals/livestock I may have, but I'm sure well come up with something to make it worth the visit
