What do you have? What do you want?

I've got a nasty headcold and need some entertainment so: what FW tank(s) do you currently have? What would you have if space, $, spouse, and reality were not a factor?

I have two tanks: a 29 tall goldfish tank which is my husband's (ie he picks the decor and fish, I maintain it) and a 30 long planted, lowlight tank with lots of loaches, tetras, otos and amano shrimp.

What I want: a really big, planted discus tank. I love watching cichlids take care of their young! Of course a shell dweller tank is also on the list...and I miss my mudskippers...and...and...

How about you?

I also love to watch cichlids and the young. Ideally if I had the space and the money I would have a 180 heavily planted and discus in it as well

Hope you feel better

I want a big FW tank, too, and a bigger SW tank.....and my own personal tank attendant. Oh, about 30-40 years old, tall, muscular, dark hair.

I miss the mud skippers, as well! Charles Delbeek had some great video last night of a mangrove tank, complete with mud skippers.

And you're going to waste him on tank maintenance?

Where did you see this? Was it an open tank? If so, how do they keep the skippers from escaping?

I believe that video was from one of the public aquariums in Japan...but I could be wrong, Charles had a lot of video! I didn't think to ask and he didn't mention if it was covered at the top up above the public viewing area. The part we could see was open, to allow the mangroves to grow up out of the water.

I have a 44 gallon with a Green Spotted Puffer and a Pleco, and in the bedroom I have a 10 gallon with a Betta and a Rubber Lipped Pleco.

I'd like to convert the GSP to saltwater, and trade in the Pleco for a Tiger Oscar.

Puffers are another one of those fish I want everytime I see one. Would the Oscar be happy in salt? Or do you mean in another tank? (I don't know a thing about Oscars, except that they have bad table manners)

i could be wrong... but i don't think oscars are saltwater fish... however i have read about people catching them 'wild' in florida (stupid people releasing them when they get bored or run out of tank for a big fish) but i may have missed the part where they said they were fishing in the lakes& rivers or off the coast.....

No restrictions, right?

Olympic pool sized filled with the larger schooling fish such as pink-tailed chalceus, tinfoil barbs, balasharks plus a variety of large cichlids and catfish, snorkle/flippers of course. Also, I would have to have a clone of Alice's personal tank attendant....

Keeping Tanganyikan Cichlids in my 26 gallon show tank in my bedroom. And by "show" I mean it's longer than a regular 26 gallon tank. I do however have a "No-no" in the tank with them. I took the chance of putting clown loaches in there, and so far it has worked for me. They're active little selves has made all my other fish feel comfortable to come out of hiding from all the lace rock I have in the tank. Before the clown loaches were in there, they were afraid to come up to the surface to feed. Now that they are in there, they feel comfortable now. Nice dither fish if I say so.

However, I'm not saying that every go out and do this, and I know the do's and don'ts about such a mix up, but I do keep a close eye on my tank. 3rd month up and running and no casualties whatsoever. Everyone is well fed and a lot of rock work for all the fish to find their own spot in. It's sad though, the clown loaches are the ones picking on some of my cichlids =-/ Especially my calvus. Just constantly harasses them.
