web cam and goldfish note
Hi everyone!
So I just purchased a webcam so I can keep an eye on my fish when I'm not around (since that's the way it is most of the time). Does anyone else have webcams for their tanks or do think this is a good/dumb idea?
I just lost my 10 year old goldfish (freshwater, I know, but I've had her for soooo long) to Drospy this weekend because I wasn't here. Well, I am in the process of losing her. She's in a dire state my friends. I just don't know what to do about her. Gave her antibiotic injection, added epsom salts, and raised tank temp for 82-86 degrees. That's all I could find out. Vet today said they would see her but it was more than likely cancer or renal failure due to her age. She said they would take blood and do an x-ray but neither of those things are very treatable. There's a chance she's septic and so I'm trying the antibiotic route, since it can't hurt.....

So no one out there does this? I guess I'm crazy then. Oh well, what else is new?

No i have done the webcam on my tank like a 3-5 second refresh picture. The last i was working on was a live stream. Never got that setup yet but here is a program that someone sent me to use for live stream. I like webcams on tanks just never got around to setting up mine again.

No webcam here, although I think it is a very good idea. And I am sorry about your goldfish...hopefully she will pull through!!

Hey, thanks. I hope she pulls through too, but it's looking pretty bad. She has very very labored breathing and her abdomen looks like a pinecone (she's so distended). I read up online and it's pretty much 100% fatal once it gets to that point. Wish I would have been here this weekend. Perhaps catching it early I may have been able to help a little. Then again, if it's cancer or kidney failure, I don't think anything will help her.

I am going through the same thing with a yashia goby right now, too. It sucks, plain and simple. Please don't beat yourself up about it...sometimes you just gotta be somewhere else, and as you said, it's very possible that there is nothing you could have done even if you were there.
