water buffer

iv'e added kent ph neutral to my tank, i have hard water with a ph of 7.4 staight from the tape but seems to stabalize at 8.0 i've added some discus to my tank, and wanted to lower it to 7.0 but the water keeps returning to 7.6-7.8 after a day or so. any recommendations?

What kind of substrate are you using ?

Have any rocks in the tank ?

Do you use airstones in the tank ?

Have you tried adding peat to your filter ?
