Ya, my camera does really weird things with the colors when you just take a pic of the tank, it works better if I have the house lights on and take a picture of the stand too. I like the look of just the tank, and the blackness around it better though, makes for a simpler picture.

Thanks,
Whiskey

ya, too bad I can't have any in there, they would dig up the soil under the gravel though. My oscar would have a blast hunting down all the fish

Wow! I have got to get my 125g done. We have never put live plants in before but that is the look that I want. You have inspired me!

Do you know, will it hurt to have a little salt in the tank? We are changing the 125g tank back to FW after having it as a salt tank for the last 4 months. We bought a new 90g & now a 29g too, to do salt in!

Cheers!

What do you mean by a little salt? Do you mean "does it matter if I don't get every speck of salt off the tank?" Or do you mean "does it matter if I add 1tsp/gallon of salt to the tank like some do for mollies?"

Plant's don't like salt, a little is no big deal, but you should avoid adding it on purpose , and mollies don't need it either, that is an old wives tale that seems to get passed around on FW boards.

What are your lighting and substrate plans for the 125?

Thanks for the complemets,
Whiskey

I forgot about this thread, the tank looked alot better back then , I let it grow in then hacked it up so it will grow in fuller, but for the time it is a little ugly, here are bad pics.

Overgrowen:

Hacked up:

It looks bad now, but I will post updated pics in a few weeks as it fills back in, it should look even better then I hope.

I mean does it hurt if not every speck of salt is out? I have never added salt to a fresh tank and I wasn't planning on starting...lol. We will be washing everything off as throughly as we can with water including the whisper and canister filter stuff.

We were thinking of, **** can't remember the name of it now, the black and brown gravel. We were told it is best if we are going to have live plants, which we are. We are also getting a new light so that our plants can thrive. That's about all I know for now. We are picking up lots of plants/rock/african wood from someone on the site a week from tomorrow as we need time to paint the stand for the tank, now is the time to do it.

Cheers!

I wouldn't worry about getting every spec of salt out, that much is not enough to cause a problem really, plus in 2 water changes it will perty much be gone.

Are you talking about eco-compleate? If so it is a good substrate, and I know a few people who use it with sucess. Get as much info as you can from the person you are getting the plants from, that will help you out in the long run, trust me.

Do you plan to use CO2 and ferts?? That question will greatly effect your lighting choice.

Good luck!
