Well they are injected with dye - to be neon orange, neon green... not my cup of tea. I think it's rather cruel actually.
That's what put me off that wholesaler - I'm sure that many or most carry them ... after all I'm sure they sell but I won't be selling them.

See i think they are pretty----BEFORE they get injected with day-glo colorant....
bad enough, the only guppies i can get appear to be hormonally enhanced so the females are almost more pretty than the males. this is ok to an extent- when the hormone is all gone, i guess the females go back to looking like girls.

I don't like to see dyed fish, bunnies, chicks...any of that. I agree, it seems cruel to me.
This line from the link you gave cracks me up though, Greg:

Also, please remember that GloFish™ fluorescent fish are intended for use as aquarium fish only, and should not be used for any other purpose!

I wonder what they were thinking about? Nightlights?
I know it's more than likely to keep people from putting them in ponds or what-have-you but it struck me as funny.
Ok, I'll shut up now.

Actually, they're probably worried that someone might eat one.

I've seen the glo-fish in two local stores and I was not impressed. And I sure wouldn't pay $7.95 a fish for one even if I wasn't concerned about the wisdom of genetically altered pets. I didn't get the feeling they were selling very well, either.
According to the "creators" of the fish they are sterile - opponents to the genetic tinkering say they don't believe that - released fish could breed. http://www.glofish.com/science.asp
Personally I don't like the idea, and seeing the product it was not hard to resist buying.
