Protein Skimmer for FW Tank?

I have had my 29g going for the last year and a half with great success. Im planning to upgrade to a 55g, and want to know if adding a protein skimmer would be a benefit?

not a whole lot of need in a fw tank IMOthe bubbles wont get small enuff to do much good. Regular water changes should suffice. Good luck with the upgrade post some pics so we can all see it

I saw on the saltwater side that protein skimmers are a must have and didnt know if applied to FW.

Besides that, my plan was to get the Magnum 350 Pro filter and 2 powerheads to keep water clean and moving.
