it is recommended to not mix lakes because the Malawi fish are quite a big meaner than the Tanganyikan's. if mixed in enough quantity it should not be that big of a deal. the L.'s seems to be able to hold their own anyway. have you seen the teeth on a L. brichardi!!

i also used to put CC or broken shells in my filters to keep my pH and hardness up.

i miss my Malawi tank.

AAAAG, they changed the Genus on those leleupi again on me. :eek i stay away from the hobby for 5 years and they go changing around the genus's again. i had just gotten the hang of the Pseudotrophes, Melanochromis confusion when i took my tank down 5 years ago.

I havnt got any pics of my cichlid tank and dont intend to get any cos at the moment its pretty ordinary:P

What species do you have in that tank casey?

I have 1 Lombardoi

2 Electric Yellow's (ill get scientific names for you)

1 Lombak? not really sure what it is, its an awesome looking malawi ciclid, changes from deep blue all over to almost white with a dark purple banded face and purple bands down its side.

1 L.Brichardia....and yes i have noticed the teeth lol, its extremely placid though.

2 Kribensis

2 Pleco sucking catfish

4 Tetra Barbs

3 Australian Rainbow fish

And 2 spinodontus i think they are called...another type of catfish.
