Newbe Substrate and Setup Questions

Hi Everyone,

I have 3 small tanks in the basement that are just sitting around collecting dust so I thought I would set up a FW planted tank.

What is best substrate to use for a planted FW tank? I don't think lighting will be an issue. I have a nice 12 gallon eclipse that I'm thinking about. I also have an eheim canister for biological. How does this setup sound.

I used Eco-Complete.... its good stuff, took out the guesswork of how to mix my own stuff. It looks nice to me.
