Morbid Humor in Fish?

First time I looked in our goldfish tank today I was shocked to see our largest, Winking, was dead! He was on his side on the bottom, draped over a large shell. We've had him for almost ten years and he was in fine health yesterday.

Then he noticed I was near the tank and swam up to beg for food.

I have heard of clown loaches sleeping on their sides but not fan tail goldfish.

Nice picture, Rocky Bottom. Somehow a fish lying down to sleep is just funny.
