Iodine in freshwater?

Newbie here, hope everyone here is as helpful & friendly as "the bird forum". Just set up a 20 gal freshwater tank, and have been picking everyone's brain on water additives, fish types, etc. Starting small, but I know this tank will probably lead to a larger one down the line. At any rate, does anyone recommend adding iodine to a freshwater tank? One person said yes, others said no. Please help. Thanks!

I never have, I am not aware of any fish or plant that really uses it. I go by the motto "don't dose what you can't test for".

For fish, zebra dannios are very cool, so are Neon tetras (though some have their issues) Mollies are great, glass blood fin tetras are a current fav, basically stick with very small fish, it will make the tank appear larger than it is.
