depending on the type of fish I would recomend using Aquarium salt one rounded tablespoon per 5 gallons I believe is what the directions say. Second find out what is causing it could it be stress could it be from water conditions???

Ya, salt is a good fix, but remove any snails if you have them to another tank.
Salt will kill freshwater snails...

A mix of tetras, neons, goromies, in a 45 tall about 30 in the mix!

if youre looking for a medication... Ive had sucess with rid ich made by Kordon. Your water quality always get screwd up when using medications so I recommend a QT tank for the future...
