Freshwater Skimmer ?

Anyone have any experience with a FreshWater skimmer (hang-on tank type)? I have a Discus tank as my 2nd tank.... and there are 2 foods I feed them that CLOUDS the water. Can a FreshWater skimmer clear the water?

I really really like my Coralife SuperSkimmer that hangs-on my SW tank.....but not sure if the same model will work with FreshWater.

I'm not looking to spend more than $75 for something.......so please dont reply with some $500+ device that is super-complicated with tubes and pipes and chambers and needs like 3 AC outlets to run and is as BIG as my 40gal tank.

Ya, skimmers only work in saltwater, although I heard rumblings at one point of a freshwater skimmer comming out, I can't possibly see how it would work.

So for now just keep up on your water changes. Good thing about freshwater is that you don't need to mix anything with the water.

You haver to use ozone for freshwater skimming if you want any benefit at all. Also, salt water produces much finer bubbles than FW, which is why it's so effective in SW and not so much in FW

they work with koi ponds
I'm not sure about the effectivness on freshwater on a small scale
you'll need lots-o-bubbles to get it to work

I have seen something on the internet and it had pics. Didnt foam like on our tanks but it did collect junk. It was a while ago when I saw it. Just do a google search.

I feel like i remember hearing about people using them on chiclid tanks, due to the higher PH of the water, but I dont remember exactly.
