Fresh water clams..

I whent out to a clean river and collect sevral fresh water clams. I was woundering if any one knows what they eat? I need to put sand in my tank they cant do their little burring thing. I also gatherd some arrow lillies.

they'd be filter feeders.... i think they like cooler water, they might not do very well in a warm tank...
