Driftwood Search

Anyone have a good source for driftwood? I am looking for a nice stump with a good root structue on it to fit into the corner of my Cichlid tank. I found theese guys - www.1driftwoodsuppliers.com - but I still would like to hunt around to see whats out there.

My LFS doesn't carry much, and if they do get it in, it is pretty pricey.

What do you have to do to keep a piece of driftwood. There is plenty on the beach but I am not sure if it is suitable for an aquarium.

If oyu pick it up in the wild, you really need to clean it thoroughly. You should also soak it overnight in a Bleach water solution -2 Tbl to a gallon of water. Rinse very well and soak in fresh water for a few weeks to get it water logged to where it will sink on its own.

The soaking part doesn't always work, I have a piece that I picked up on the shore that the sun had baked to a crisp, it never has water logged. If I pull the rock away from it, up it comes!

I agree if you do pick it up off the beach or outa a local lake you will hae to clean clean boil and the boil again. After that it might be safe and waterlogged so it would stay submerged
