Discus question

My friend who took my freshwater fish has a Blue diamond discus (juvinile) that spends all its time laying on its side in the corner of the tank. anyone know why and how to resolve it? the only other tank mates it has is a slightly larger blue diamond and an angelfish.

Sounds like to me it could be 1 of 2 things. Dominance over the juv fish.

First thing that comes to mind is how much larger is the discus and the angel that are in with it.

Was there a water problem or possiably an acclimation thing?

I would provide it with its own tank if possiable and wait till it gets simular in size to the larger one.

I dont recomend mixing angels and discus in the same tank but I know many do.

He is somewhat new to the whole fish thing so i am having to hold his hand a little. it isn't going to be possible to move it to a seperate tank so i am trying to make up for it by providing a few hiding spots with decor and plants. the angel is actually smaller than both discus so i don't think he is the problem. the big guy is about half againg the size of the small guy. i have never seen them lay on their sides except right after being added to the tank.

i would have to guess your water isnt right. the water should be soft.... maybe use peat moss. the ph should be at 8.3 use chemi pure. there should be some form of natural drift wood and real plants in the tank would help adjust them. the temp should be about 80 F. discuss have a way of healing themselves if the temp is a little higher then 82F
Angels shouldnt be with discuss because Angels carry diseases that discuss MAY get if the water params arent right.

FYI.... I used to breed Jack Watley's discuss!!!
