Decided against Puffer Pennitentiary

did i spell that right?

Anyway, couldn't keep the 10 gallon tanks where they used to be (to the left of the salt tank) and where i was gonna put them wasn't going to work out because the floor is too uneven there and no amount of shimming was going to fix it. I tried my best, but when one leg of the stand was on a stack of wood pieces almost 2" high, i decided it was a lost cause and just not worth the risk. There's no other spot i can put them. And hubby's not going to go for tanks migrating back up the stairs- i already have a 5 nano up here for one of my salt fish that was getting picked on.

Besides, during all my doing stuff in the basement, i'm not really all that sure the puffers did anything. I just don't know. They havn't been bothering anyone that i can see, no further deaths since the platy. They beg for food and swim around thats about it. I mean, these livebearers i have are pushing 4 years at least- i mean thats how long i've owned them and who knows what their age was when i bought them. I don't recall reading that they live too long- not more than 7 years IIRR- but i could be wrong. So maybe the platy went downhill that day and the puffs went for the free food. The CAE may not have been healthy either. It won't be the first time a fish from the LFS has croaked within a day of purchase.
I was suprised to see it dead tho. Cause otherwise everyone seemed in perfect health. As of today, there have been no injuries, no nip marks on fins or bodies. I have 3 cories, 2 livebearers, the blue gourami, the remaining CAE and the two puffs.
I plan to go to one of the LFS and get a pair of Otto cats and maybe a couple more platys or swords during their 2 for 1 sale Sunday.
maybe some more plants too.

so hopefully its not the puffs, and if it is, i can have enough fish in the tank to keep them busy chasing but not bullying one to death. kinda like tigerbarbs.

naaa.... i popped them back into the sump.... and bought a handful of nice guppies and some more plants.

i can't pinch the puffers (as much as i really wanted to...sorta), i can't do stuff like that unfortunately. now if it was a viscious dog and it hurt my daughter it would be dead before its next breath, but with fish..... they are so small and capital punishment for 'eating' just seems unfair.

call me a softie
