Darn puffers

They are ticking me off.

i think they have been killing and eating my fish.

I bought 2 chinese algae eaters and the next day one was ripped in pieces and all the soft bits were chewed away.

I figured maybe it was sick and for some reason didn't make it, so the other fish just nibbled away at the body.

that was Sunday.

Today i see two really fat puffers, mysteriously not begging for food..........................

and one of my yellow platies are chewed up.

head is gone, find gone and belly opened up.

makes me mad.

its not like i didn't feed everyone this morning.

I've had these fish forever and i am so mad at the puffers.

the water parameters are fine...no ammonia or anything- everyone else appears perfectly healthy. i would find it hard to believe that the platy suddenly died and then got eaten.

I might have to set up another nano for those idiot fish.

Glad i kept all the tanks and filters.

o my gosh not an other tank. heaven forbid you should have an excuse to add another tank lol I remember the platty it was such a pretty fish, nice and orange. Face it icebear you have two murderers on your hands. Yes the puffers are guilty guilty as charged. The poor algae eaters never had a chance. Do you have anymore puffer food in your tank? Or have they eaten everybody? lol watch your hands the next time you put them in the tank they could like icebears.

Well, they were in the reef when they were smaller... they taste-tested everything...but didn't actually kill any tank mates....

now the little $#!+$ have decided they prefer to hunt...

they'll be banned from yet another tank... i'm just going to throw them into a 10gallon freshwater with a few low light plants and call it Jail

Darn Puffers

Hi. I'm Yardmans other half
In response to your puffer dilema, whoever sold you those did not tell you the temperment of puffers. They are aggressive and love live food. I currently have a 29gal freshwater tank and I found some really cute little puffers. I was told they would be fine with my neons, but I knew better. They were pretty mellow at first but now they are nipping away at all my fish. I knew this and I can always replace neons, but if you love your other fish, then yes, a separate tank is your best plan.
Good Luck with your nibblers!!

I was always told puffers were a critter to 'keep an eye on" and i've had them for yikes, going on 4 years now (?)

i just didn't expect them to be outright murderers

they've always been in tanks where they were not the bigger fish, i guess now its a different story.
