Charcoal Pellets in the Water Question

Hi,

A local bulletin board member asked this question concerning his freshwater tank and loose charcoal pellets.

***********************
QUOTE:

I have a fresh water fishtank which is heavily planted and also has lots of gravel. The other day I was replacing the charcoal filter on one of my inlet tubes, and the canister containing charcoal broke, and the charcoal pellets fell onto the bottom of the tank. Is this dangerous in any way to my fish? (an angelfish, if that matters)

Do I need to concern myself with removing all of the loose charcoal pellets from the bottom of the tank (disturbing plants and gravel, etc)? Any advice would be most gratefully appreciated.

*******************

Can anyone here help?

Thanks

PJ

Shouldnt hurt anything in a filter carbon normally only lasts a few weeks. It will become Bio. Filtration anyways. Other than being unsightly shouldnt hurt anything at all. I personally would pick it out or all I could anyways but thats just me
